I always say… a burrito a day keeps the doctor away! Especially in the city of LA!

That’s why I was super stoked to hear the news that the founders of Big Wangs and Tipsy Cow and national entertainment and hospitality group Knitting Factory Entertainment opened the brand new El Tejano in Woodland Hills! I’m obsessed with their innovative yet traditional top-notch food, drink and games that made the original El Tejano in North Hollywood, which opened in 2016, a city favorite.

This brand new Tex-Mex restaurant and bar is as big and bold as the great state of Texas. El Tejano serves up Tex-Mex classics like grilled Mexican street corn; Frito pie; nine varieties of tacos of all shapes and sizes; burritos; enchiladas; a Southwest quinoa bowl; and even Texas Tater Tots—along with their beloved self-serve chips and salsa bar. Megyn and I tried the nachos (obsessed) and also opted for the healthy quinoa bowl which was refreshing and delicious (photos below)!

Like the partners’ other restaurants, the team has created a superb craft imported and domestic beer list and an extensive selection of tequilas, mezcals and specialty margaritas.  Look behind the bar for house-made micheladas, tequila mules, and margarita varieties from the skinny (Flaca-rita) to the activist (Cesar Chavez).

The best part about El Tejano? Every day and all day is a happy hour during the opening days (consider it a part of their Texas-sized welcome) with either a second drink “Texas-sized” drink for $2, while adding a shot to any beverage costs six bucks. The margaritas were definitely on point. And JD the manager was awesome, too!

Check out the full menu here! And we hope to see you there real soon, ya hear?!
