Christmas has come and gone and now a lot of us are looking forward to summer. You’re probably starting to think about booking your summer vacation, so today I’m sharing some essentials that you must remember to pack to pack when the time comes!

Sun Protection:  This may seem like a fairly obvious one, but it is important to pack enough sunscreen. Think about how long your holiday will be and work from there. It is good to start off your holiday with a high factor sunscreen such as factor 50. Unless you live in a warm and sunny place, your skin won’t have been exposed to such strong sun rays for a while. After a while, and if you tan rather than burn, you could lower the factor slightly. It is always good to stay above factor 15, though.

You need to think about after sun care too. The country you are visiting may have some aloe vera plants but chances of being able to use any of it will be slim. Stock up on some aloe vera gel. If your hotel or villa has a fridge, store it in there before you go out for the day. Then when you come back to shower and get ready for the evening, it will feel nice and cool on you hot skin.

You should also think about clothing and accessories to protect you from the sun. A light beach coverup is a good option. It will keep you cool and protect the parts of your body that are most likely to burn, like your shoulders. A large, floppy sun hat is a must have too. It will look so stylish on the beach, but protect your face, neck and eyes from the bright sun. It goes without saying that you should take sunglasses too!

For the Beach:  A large beach bag is essential; the more room, the better. It is a good idea to pack a few towels. Depending on where you are staying, you might need a few of your own. A lot of hotels don’t want you to take towels off the premises. It might be a good idea to pack in a few hair bands or hair ties too. It is nice to be able to tie up salty and sandy hair.

Of course, the obvious thing that you need for the beach is a bikini. Take a few and then you can mix and match. Roll them up and store them in your shoes when you pack. It will save a bit of space in your luggage.

For Your Hand Luggage:  There are a few items that you should pack in your hand luggage. A book or magazine is a must have. You might even need a few, depending on how long you are going for. The second thing that you must remember to pack is a travel adapter. Of course, you shouldn’t forget your passport and foreign currency. Be sure to get it before you are at the airport as the rates aren’t as good there.

Enjoy your holiday!
