I’ve always thought that the upscale burger chain, Umami Burger, should be called Mmmmmmami Burger… because the food there is absolutely delicious!

Umami is actually a loanword from the Japanese (うま味), and umami can be translated as “pleasant savory taste”.

The first time I ever tried Umami Burger, I still ate meat, so now that I’m vegetarian, I was super stoked to learn that more than half their menu is catered to us veggies! They also have some amazing new summer menu items including 3 new Impossible Burgers, and some refreshingly creative salads! As a matter of fact, the world-renowned premium burger concept just introduced five brand new menu items this week!

The Tuna Poke & Wasabi Caesar Salad, Roasted Beet & Herb Salad, Pulled Asian Chicken Salad, New Style Taco Salad will all deliver serious flavor to any health-conscious diner and satisfy even the pickiest vegetarian… aka me! Umami has also added Crispy Lollipop Chicken Wings to the menu, which are available in Buffalo or BBQ (which of course comes with a side of jalapeño ranch for that extra kick).

My dear friend Jay and I had lunch at their location at The Grove this week, and boy is that Impossible Burger delicious! I tried “The Trufflemaker” and Jay went with the classic Umami. We also tried the Roasted Beet & Herb Salad which was a nice touch in addition to the burgers… and of course… you can’t forget the fries! Too bad we didn’t have room for dessert because the Boozy Milkshakes and Coolhuas ice cream sandwiches looked absolutely delightful.

If you’re in the mood for a burger, a shake or even a quick salad, definitely stop by Umami Burger this summer, and be sure to mention that TGIFguide sent you! Thanks for having us!
