After that awfully rainy day yesterday you need a drink.

Maybe two.   All that traffic and bad driving has given you cause to want to forget about your troubles the old fashioned way.   Rum.

Since you now have two days to kick your feet up, why not sit back, relax, and head to BOTH of these classy LA spots for one of TGIFguide’s favorites, The Mojito.  Get out of your tired old vodka-soda schtick, and try something sweetly refreshing for a change.   Here’s where to go:

The Abbey.

Just pretend it’s church. With statues of San Francis of Assisi and his buddies watching you from around the restaurant, your sins, including getting intoxicated on the Sabbath, will be forgiven for sure. Especially after Assisi has knocked a few back himself.

The Abbey’s mojitos are $12 and feature Bacardi rum with muddled lime wedges, fresh mint, home-made syrup, tropical fruit, and are garnished with sugar cane! This is the real deal.

Not to mention, you can sin in many different flavors:

ABBEY MOJITO – regular
COCONUT
DRAGONBERRY
ORANGE
MANGO
PEACH RED
PINEAPPLE
RASPBERRY
TORCHED CHERRY

Sip and surrender to the wonderful menu by sbe executive Chef, Daniel Elmaleh, which includes a mix of shared plates, fresh salads, hearty entrees, all day breakfast, desserts, and killer mini tacos. After you’re done eating, you can always dance off the calories with live DJs every night.

Luna Park.

Traveling east of The Abbey, you’ll find a majestic setting full of candle light, velvet curtains, and giant cakes with sparklers in them. It might be hard to believe that you’re on the corner of Wilshire and La Brea. But you are, and Luna Park’s signature mojitos are calling. Driiink meeee. Driiink meeee.

Monkeys and giraffes hang from your chilled glass of strawberries, mint, lime, and mixture. Try Luna Park’s Mojito with fresh mint and lime, or add in a little strawberry, for $10.50.

Besides mojitos, Luna Park has many other intriguing cocktails on offer, so don’t forget to have one for TGIFguide!
