What is Ideal Woman : The LA based designer Allie Pohl created the “Ideal Woman” necklace so that when worn, it represents an agent for change and empowerment for all, despite what gender a person is.
Why We Want to Wear It : The Ideal Woman necklace is a symbol designed to challenge the social constructs of perfection by holding a mirror up to society. The perfected lower-halves of each necklace make the statement that there really is no such thing as perfect. Considering Allie’s LA based brand, the likes of Audrey Hepburn and Edie Sedgwick are perfect names for some of the pieces. =)
The Best Part : Each necklace is assembled by the members of Daybreak, a project of OPCC (a 501(c) non-profit organization), which empowers women recovering from mental illness and homelessness to rebuild their lives. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of this necklace will be donate to Daybreak.
