New York Fashion Week is September’s biggest sartorial event and one of the most important in every fashion lover’s calendar. This 10-day long feast of fashion and design is a flurry of Amazonian supermodels and cool clothes. And of course, all the ready-to-wear trends you need to know about for the upcoming season. But where are the hotspots and where do the best parties and shows take place? If you happen to be visiting New York over the next ten days, you’ll want to know where to go for the best chances of celebrity and designer spotting. So delve into the super luxe world of New York Fashion Week as I take you on a journey around this exhilarating city.

What Is New York Fashion Week?      This twice annual event takes place in one of the best cities in the world. It’s an opportunity for designers to showcase their spring/summer 2017 collections.  It also gives us an insight into what to expect design wise for the coming year. Everyone from Victoria Beckham to Calvin Klein and Marchesa to Tom Ford descends upon the city to unveil their new designs. Most events are industry only. But that doesn’t mean you can’t indulge in a bit of celebrity spotting if you are in town. If you are traveling from another country, don’t forget you’ll need an Official ESTA before you can enter the United States of America. Then, when you touch down, get your glad rags, oversized sunglasses and super high heels on, and make like a fashion pro. There a few events that are open to the public over the coming weeks. Where Are The Shows     Most of NYFW runway shows take place at Made @ Milk Studios, Skylight at Moynihan Station and Skylight Clarkson Sq. Everyone from Oscar de la Renta to Viviene Tam and 1.3 Philip Lim to Vera Wang will be showing their designs at these locations this year. After Hours Parties       Of course, the fun and fashion doesn’t stop when the models finish their runway struts. The super-luxe parties of NYFW are just as famed as the designer showcases themselves. So just where do the after hour parties happen? Hot spot the blond at 11 Howard is going to be home to the IGM Model party as well as the after parties of Erin Fetherston and Rosetta Getty. Located in New York City’s Soho, it is a VIP blend of velvet sofa, low lighting and stylish bar areas. This seductive space is perfect for a NYFW after party. If you want to do some celebrity spotting Mario Batali’s new La Sirena restaurant is so close to the Milk Studios that it’s a sure bet there will be many a fashion editor dining out here. It’s ‘60’s style design, and 38-foot marble bar are sure to attract the most discerning of guests. And lastly, The Plaza Hotel will host Carine Roitfeld’s ICONS Ball where supermodels and celebrities are sure to flock. This super luxurious hotel is located on Fifth Avenue at Central Park South and will be a hub of activity over the next ten days.
