Everyone has a story, and once in a while you meet those who’s stories inspire hundreds, even thousands of people. Sarah Pollock Boyd is one of those people, who discovered her dream and didn’t stop until it became her reality. We had a chance to ask the Forbes featured entrepreneur and all around stylish go-getter a few questions about how and why she founded the inspiring national event and blog Simply Stylist. Check out our interview with her below!

Were you passionate about fashion and style since you were a kid? Or was it something that you learned to love later on?

I grew up in a small town in Pennsylvania and didn’t quite know what I wanted to do until my junior year of high school.  I had no idea what I wanted to major in for college, let alone my life path! My high school offered a field trip to shadow store buyers at Bon Ton (one of our local department stores), and I couldn’t believe that shopping could actually be a job. I immediately started looking into fashion schools, and the next year I was beginning to pave my path into the world of fashion.  I always cared about fashion, but living in a small town I would have to drive 2 hours to get to a decent mall so I’m sure I didn’t compare to those living in big cities!   After I went to school in Philadelphia, studied in Rome and finally landing in Los Angeles – I developed a true love for fashion and my own personal style.

What are your favorite types of looks? Edgy, romantic, boho, etc…

For myself, I tend to dress a bit more edgy.  I love all three styles though on the right person.

Describe the “moment” when you realized what/how big Simply Stylist was becoming…

I try to push myself daily so not sure if I’ve had that ‘moment’ yet – maybe I’m too hard on myself 🙂
One of the most rewarding moments was during my first Los Angeles event that I had worked on for months was actually happening.  I looking into the jam packed room with every seat filled about had to hold back tears of joy that all of these strangers came to my event.  I built something I would personally like to attend, and hoped others would share my vision.  Luckily, people did!

What do your see for the future of your brand?

It’s hard for me to stray away from the PR…I’ve got it in my blood.  So I see that end of my business building – I love growing brands so recently I’ve been handling the PR and Brand Development for numerous style & beauty experts.  As for the Simply Stylist events, I am expanding into two additional markets (Chicago and Dallas) and also introducing Beauty Panels in addition to the Fashion Panels that already exist at the events.  There’s a lot more up my sleeve that I can’t talk about yet – you’ll have to wait and see!
