We’ve all heard the saying “right place at the right time.” Well, it happened to happen to me last week in India! I was boarding a plane at the GOA airport on the way to Delhi and met a new friend in line who let me in on a little tip – Wills Lifestyle INDIA Fashion Week was starting the same day I landed!

After settling in at the lovely Saket Bed and Breakfast, I made my way to Pragati Maidan for what turned out to be a spectacular show.

A red carpet entrance full of stylish guests lead the way to a remarkable interior with vaulted dome-shaped ceilings and more than enough room to house the runway shows, lounges and designer exhibitions.

Off-duty models and show goers mingled before and after runway events and used their  customized tech bracelets to update their social media feeds as to where they were during the show.

Check out some of the social media highlights with #WIFW 🙂

For the entire week, India’s most talented designers showcased their collections (see the full lineup here) and as breathtaking handcrafted designs made their way down the runways, I oohd and aahd unapologetically. Here’s a peek from my camera!

What stood out the most :

TEXTURE – whether handwoven or hand-appliqued, Indian designers know about texture. I am completely obsessed with the “My Village” collection by Rimzim Dadu which featured textured shirts, tops and fab shoes to match!

HERITAGE – it was fantastic to see the juxtaposition of modernity and heritage at WILLSfw. Designers like Pratima Pandey and Vaishali S modern take on classic heritage looks. I loved that Pratima included looks for both men and women and they fit so concisely with her La Vie En Rose theme.

RED – as the world knows, India is not a county that’s afraid of color. At this fashion week, pops of RED were everywhere!

From my world of fashion to yours, I can’t wait to see these designers showing up on the world stage. Special thanks to the awesome folks at Weber Shandwick for making my experience at India Fashion Week a great one!
