It’s that magical time of year when the desert comes alive with music, fabulous people (mostly) and of course, amazing parties. Some of them are so exclusive that it seems almost impossible to get in. I tell you TGIFguide readers, it IS possible, well, at least like 90% possible, if you know how to do it! I’ve received an influx of messages asking “How can I get in to Neon Carnival?” or “Do you have a contact for the Rachael Zoe party?” and I decided to create this post to give my readers a tip on how to get in, or at least, to try 🙂
Step 1 : Do your research. It’s important to know who to talk to. It’s going to be useless to rsvp to the info@ address or the rsvp@ address. Get on LinkedIn or ask some of your friends who may have an ‘in’ or at least an idea of who’s doing the PR. Even a Google search is better than nothing.
Step 2 : Be nice. This should probably be listed as number one, but if you don’t know who to talk to in the first place, then you won’t know who to be nice to. Just kidding. You should be nice and respectful to everyone all the time, obviously, but still, if you are kind and polite and perhaps even invite the publicist to another event, than you’re like 1000 times better off getting in than if you just say rsvp Jackie +1, thanks!
Step 3 : Have style. Face it. If you’re desperate, it shows. And if you’re not dressed well and don’t look like you belong in the scene when you arrive, chances are, you don’t. So keep it clean, and even if you’re covered in desert dust, put on an outfit that represents the fabulous you that you are. Saggy jeans won’t get you far boo, even out in the dusty desert.
Here’s one more for good luck. If they tell you “no,” write back and ask why. I guarantee you’ll get in after the second try. And if you don’t hear back, follow up! Not in like a scary stalker kind of way, but in a “hey! Just checking to make sure you got my rsvp. Super excited can’t wait to see you there!”
