The Future powered by MINI is the third, annual platform, conceptualized by FUNKSHION, the leading Miami-based production company. The focus of this special edition, dynamic, interactive platform is not only a current event, but a time-sensitive cause: sustainability in fashion.

The Future powered by MINI was created to support a conscious and sustainable lifestyle. “Over 13 million tons of clothing are thrown away each year, if we don’t act now to support designer brands, makers and consumers that are acting to change these statistics, it will be too late for generations that aren’t yet here.” said Natalija Dedic-Stojanovic, Chief Creative Officer of FUNSKHION. “Miami is the perfect location for this conversation to take place, being the epi-center of warming and rising sea-levels. Having the support of the City of Miami Beach is an integral part of the The Future powered by MINI and reason behind launching the platform here in South Florida”.

The inaugural edition of the annual platform will be filled with educational panel discussions, special events and runway shows. The goal is to enlighten fashion enthusiasts and environmentalists alike, provoke innovative thinking, and inspire the community to act and spread the word on the accomplishments of individuals, brands and organizations leading the change and encourage the public to act and do the same.

Joining the event, sustainably conscious influencer, Valeria Hinojosa @waterthruskin will host a preview dinner at Wynwood’s own consciously-curated boutique, Antidote. A panel discussion focused on The Importance of Sustainable Fashion will follow on the evening of November 8th at the Soho Beach House moderated by fashion influencer and journalist, Danié Gómez-Ortigoza with Patrick Duffy, Founder of Global Fashion Exchange, Daniele D’orazi from Istituto Marangoni, Elizabeth Wheaton, Environment & Substantiality Director at City of Miami Beach, Veronica Pesantes co-founder of The Onikas, and Sophie Zembra Founder of Antidote.

Fashion Group International will also host its annual award ceremony at The Setai on Miami Beach along with the runway show of international brand, Faith Connexion.

On the evening of November 9th, Antidote will show its first-ever runway show at The Setai on Miami Beach showcasing a see now-buy now collection available in its flagship Miami location. The following evening of November 10th, Global Fashion Exchange will host their signature “Swap Party” dedicated to accelerating the adoption of circularity to reduce waste in the apparel industry. Funkshion is collaborating to help GFX meet its goal of saving 1 million pounds of clothing from being thrown away by giving them a second life through their signature elevated swap party.

“Living in Miami Beach, the ground zero for the sea level rise phenomenon, our environmental wake-up calls are constant. Ocean is our backyard, and instead of being our main source of a positive energy, it is becoming unsafe for all of us. Fashion4Good was born out of believe that only united effort can bring a better tomorrow. We use the power of social media to influence people in a different way and bring awareness. This time, awareness that a more sustainable lifestyle and conscious decisions can make a change to our everyday lives, to our environment and to the fashion industry that we all love.” said Martha Graeff, founder of Fashion4Good, the non-profit organization created by group of social media influencers to spark a meaningful conversation in the industry.

“We welcome and support Funkshion: The Future for bringing our city and community to the ongoing global conversation about the future of the fashion industry. We will champion with them every little step brands are taking in the right direction”, continued Graeff.

Closing the events, Argentinian-based, sustainable brand, CHAIN will showcase its newest collection on the runway to an audience of media, buyers, and conscious influencers and guests.

THE FUTURE special edition is a unique platform that celebrates and embraces new perspectives and values, supporting the meaningful change within the fashion industry with like-minded partners who all want to “join the conversation”.

Rethinking what we know today and focusing on tomorrow is the main mission behind the FUNKSHION and MINI partnership and special edition event.
