Fashion Week San Diego is now the official fashion week as declared by interim Mayor, Todd Gloria. Runway shows started on Thursday and continued to the finally on Saturday night October 3, 2013. Seven collections were shown on Thursday evening, with a special “Styled to Rock” presentation by Dexter Simmons of Dextrose, Cecilia of CA Couture and Andre Soriano of his namesake brand. C Venti started off the Thursday night show followed by Laced with B, Collections of Katheryn Elizabeth, Second Star Designs, CG by Cynthia, Mahogany Blues, and isabel Vianey.
Friday’s designers were Love, Charles, Diestra, Maegan Stracy, Makeshift Apparel, KA Designs, Dos Caras Swimwear, GreenPacha and RHCreation. This evening ended with models walking adoptable dogs down the runway from the Rancho Coastal Humane Society.
VictroLA, Yuwei Designs, Nois by Evelyne, Maralonzo, Danh TA, A’Doreus, SyC Collection, Ashley Raymond, WM Couture Designs, and Wish Now showed their collections on Saturday. The skillful hands of the Bellus Academy students created the dazzling hair and make-up designs, with direction from each designer. The evening culminated in an after party at the venue, the Broadway Pier. Models and patrons a like danced to the beats of DJ Demon of Sleeping Giant Music, while sipping Peroni or Barefoot Wine.
Richard the designer of RHCreation, along with business partner Tim were the first place winners of the FWSD first prize as voted by the audience through the FWSD application. Second place went to Wish Now’s Victoria Roberts who’s innovative use of materials and designs also earned her the “Most Innovative” design award from the 2013 FWSD Advisory Panel. Third place went to GreenPacha founder Florencia Gomez Gerbi.
