If you’ve driven down Sunset Blvd in the past month or so, you’ve probably noticed the giant billboard with the faces of Beyonce Knowles, Frida Giannini and Salma Hayek tinted in different colors and passionately staring back at you. Beneath the faces is a bold logo that is meant to make a bold statement : CHIME FOR CHANGE.
The likes of these celebrity ladies, and many more have joined forces with Gucci to deliver the following message to the world :
**We want to see a world where every woman has access to the health care she needs.
**We want to see a world where every girl has the right to go to school.
**We want to see a world where girls and women are protected and given equal opportunity.
More than 50,000 people packed into West London’s Twickenham Stadium on June 1st to witness the birth of a new kind of feminist movement. What better way than to announce the arrival of equality and strength among all women globally than with performances by Jennifer Lopez, Jessie J, Rita Ora, Ellie Goulding, Florence + The Machine – and, of course, Queen B.
‘Our goal is to call for change in the loudest voice possible,’ declared Beyoncé ahead of The Sound Of Change Live – and, girl, did we all achieve it.
According to Elle Magazine, the event raised $4.3m in ticket sales alone for Chime For Change – the charity founded earlier this year by Gucci, which supports the empowerment of women and girls worldwide. Here are some of our favorite photos of the event (provided by Getty Images) :
