If Ziggy Stardust himself were in need of a cold pint after a long day’s work, he’d head to Boomtown Brewery. From the giant Bowie mural at the entrance to the creative craft beers, stellar service and signature Boomtown swag; the entire operation is positively the stuff of legend.
I was sad to miss the ribbon cutting hosted by 14th District City Councilmember José Huizar, which took place on Friday the 3rd, in addition to the official Grand Opening on Saturday, February 4th, but hey, I had to go to Vegas. 😉 The team at Boomtown was kind enough to welcome me and my V-Day date for a tour and tasting on February 14th. Love was definitely in the air… and in the beer too!
The selection at Boomtown features some very appropriate names considering the culture of our City of Angeles, for example, “Nose Job,” which is a tasty IPA and “After Hours,” an oatmeal stout.
And speaking of Vegas… they also offer a brown porter named after that funky town that we’ve all passed along that brutal Vegas drive, “ZZYZX.”
Below are some snapshots of the selections that we tried. Our bar tender Leticia was very knowledgable and set us up with a few flights so we could try a bit of everything. The “Ingenue” was my favorite!
The Boomtown Brewery space itself is humongous, but feels cozy and inviting at the same time. It’s filled with awesome art and lots of love.
It’s definitely easy to get creative in a space like this, and the team at Boomtown can host your art gallery openings, dj sets, concerts, weddings or whatever your heart desires. Literally. One of the art installations quite appropriately happens to be a giant heart made of wood that also graciously served as the perfect Valentine’s Day photo opp. V-Day or no V-Day, you can’t help but feel the love at Boomtown.
Whether you’re finishing your work day and want to enjoy a refreshing pint in a chill atmosphere or are celebrating with a big group, this new event space is where it’s at. Cheers to the entire team at Boomtown! Head on over and be sure to tell them TGIFguide sent you!
