Although the American history classes we took back in school probably come in a bit fuzzy nowadays, a few night’s stay at the Hotel Elysée might just help bring it all back. From the Colonial decor to the grand pianos in the Presidential Suites, no matter how extravagant or small, not a single detail at Hotel Elysée is overlooked.
The Hotel was built in the 1920’s, and when you first walk in, it feels like you’ve traveled back to the times that put New York City on the map.
Hotel Elysée is proud of the fact that it has been home to many movie stars, artists, writers and intellectuals. The warm, creative and personable energy of these personalities definitely still lives on. One might even sense the souls of the past sauntering through the hallways or sipping champagne in the oversized suites.
The library is warm and welcoming and makes a very nice place to enjoy the complimentary breakfast which includes fresh fruit, coffee, hard boiled eggs, a delicious array of pastries and more.
Late afternoon wine and appetizers are also offered by all of The Library Collection‘s hotels. Cookies, fresh fruit, coffees and teas are also available throughout the day in addition to the daily newspaper.
Anthony, my partner, and I enjoyed a delightful stay here during our trip to the New York Times Travel Show this January. The location was perfectly central to the Javitz Center and an easy walk or metro ride to most of the attractions you’d want to see in NYC, including Times Square, Central Park, the fabulous shopping on 5th Avenue, the MOMA and more. They even offer special packages including some of these options.
The crowd at Hotel Elysée is a bit on the 50+ side, but hey, sometimes a bit of history can be a very good thing 😉
