I love New York City. After all, it’s such a vibrant and fun city with so much to do. In fact, it’s not surprising that around 50 million tourists visit the city every year. But with so much to do, it can leave people feeling perplexed about what should be on their list. And it can lead them to make mistakes when it comes to attraction, food, and hotels. In fact, here is some advice every traveler needs before jetting into New York.

Do skip the most popular attractions        New York is known for its major attractions. In fact, the Empire State Building and the Statue of Liberty and just two which make tourists must-see list. But while these spectacular attractions should be seen once in your lifetime, there are some other sights which will ensure you enjoy New York properly and help you to avoid the tourist trap. After all, you want to make sure you enjoy your time in New York. I highly recommend spending time visiting the small neighborhoods rather than spending all your time in Manhattan. After all, places like Brooklyn and Dumbo have so many chic shops that are worth visiting. And you will love the cute cafes and restaurants that are located in these areas. Also, rather than heading to Liberty Island, you should go and have a look around Staten Island instead. You will still get a good view of Statue of Liberty but will get to look around Staten Island too.

Do get a hotel in the heart of the city     It’s always tough to choose a hotel to stay at in New York. After all, you are met with tons of ideas when you go online. But one piece of advice you need is make sure you are situated in the heart of the city. For one thing, this will. ensure there are plenty of subway spots located near you. But also it means you will feel a lot safer when you are out at night in the city. If you look online, you can find hotels like Courtyard Marriott Manhattan Times Square West which are situated in a central location. That way, you can make sure you are only meters from what Manhattan has to offer.

Do follow the locals when it comes to food and drink      A lot of travelers make the mistake of going to famous restaurants in New York that they can get back in their home country. After all, they recognize the name so take the opportunity to dine at those restaurants. But if you do go to these restaurants, you will find they will charge a small fortune. And it will leave you spending all your holiday money on food. Therefore, you should opt for the small street stalls and independent restaurant instead. To ensure you don’t make a mistake with the grub, follow the locals to where they go for food and drink. If they are all heading to a specific stall, it’s bound to have great food that you need to try!

And if you want to ensure you fit right into city life, make sure you put that map away during the busy periods. After all, you don’t want to annoy the locals during rush hour by stopping in the middle of the pavement.
