Everybody loves a vacation. You head to the sunniest spot you can afford, sit back in a lounger, and soak up some fantastic views. There’s no saying that this isn’t a great way to enjoy a vacation, of course, but it’s only one of many ways to enjoy some of the sunniest places in the world. In this article, we’re going to look at some popular tourist destinations famed for their sun, sea, and paradise, but we’re going to talk about some of the other things you can do in these places. Here’s a travel plan for those who want more than a tan when they visit somewhere new.

California, United States.

California is an American state most definitely famed for its scorching heat and beautiful coastline but there’s far more to it than that (though, both of those things will likely be enjoyable elements of your trip). California is also at the heart of wine-making in America, as we’ve discussed before, so you could take the time to visit some stunning vineyards whilst you’re there. It’s also a state which is home to stunning scenery such as mountains, deserts, and beautiful forests; Yosemite National Park should definitely be on your to-see list.

The point is that you don’t want to spend your entire time in California sun-lounging. There’s so much to see and you need to plan a route to do so. You could check out sites such as BOAT.ME to book a boat trip that could take you up and down part of the coastline of this gorgeous state. Yes, it’s partly beautiful because it’s all sun-soaked, but there’s something undeniably beautiful about the natural scenery of this state in its own right. Combine that with the culture of its cities and you’ve got the recipe for a fantastic trip. Los Angeles boasts swooping hills and the buzzing vibe of Hollywood, and San Francisco boasts culture, fascinating architecture, and beautiful national parks. But we’ve only touched on some of the best places to visit in this state, so feel free to plan your own journey through California.

Sydney, Australia

Another part of the world that’s famous for its sweltering heat but has so much more to offer is Australia. When you visit a city as glorious as Sydney, this becomes all too apparent. It’s an entirely fascinating place unlike anywhere else in the world. As described over at travel.usnews.com, the city combines the bustling and hectic atmosphere of a metropolis with a relaxed beach town. You can hit the waves over at Bondi beach and relax on a sun lounger, much as you might at any coast in the world, but you can also delve into the culture of the city and see fantastic performances at the landmark Opera House. There’s a never-ending array of things to do in this iconic city; soak up some rays but see incredible things whilst you’re doing so.

Le Havre, France.

It wouldn’t be a list of sun-soaked destinations that boast a heap of culture and exciting things to see if we didn’t mention France. This is possibly one of the most beautiful countries in Europe but it offers so much more than fantastic coastlines and the city of love. As suggested over at lonelyplanet.com, you should visit Le Havre if you’ve been to Paris before or simply want to see another side of France. This Norman city boasts stunning architecture and innovative contemporary designs, as a result of being rebuilt following the Second World War. Of course, as mentioned over at tripadvisor.com, Paris is still one of the best destinations to visit in the world; if you can’t stand the thought of not seeing the beautiful capital too then why not see both cities whilst in France?
