Aren’t you bored of visiting the same holiday destinations year in, year out? Next time you’re planning a trip away, why not give a safari a try? When it comes to fulfilling vacations, there are few that can rival it. Without a doubt, a safari excursion is a journey of self-discovery. If you’re not yet convinced to add it to your bucket list, here are some of the best reasons I can think of:

Nature – Without a doubt the top reason to go on safari is to experience the wildlife. The more exotic destinations boast the chance to come face-to-face with animals that you just won’t find anywhere else in the world. It truly is a once in a lifetime experience. That’s the allure for many people that choose to go on safari every year. However, the unfortunate truth is that time may be running out. With poaching becoming an increasing problem, some species are in danger of being wiped out completely. Grasp your chance to see them while you still can.

New Culture – For many people, the pull of traveling abroad is in the culture. Experiencing how people live all over the world is an extremely rewarding venture. You get to leave behind the problems of modern life and try new things. Different food, different languages, different attitudes. Many foreign countries are very hospitable to tourists, as they know it means a boost in their economy. You’ll find plenty of friendly smiles and warm welcomes wherever you go.

Self-Discovery – Believe me, it’s not just a buzzword, and it’s not just for hippies. You might feel as though removing yourself from all the luxuries of the western world would be unbearable. It’s not. Once you get over the culture shock (and trust me, the transition is quick), you find joy in things you previously took for granted. You’ll learn more about yourself on the plains of a desert safari than you ever would being stuck inside an office cubicle. And you’ll return home with a newfound zest for life.

Exploration – There’s an inner explorer in all of us. We’ve had it since birth. It’s in our genetic makeup. As children, we spend our existence learning and exploring new ideas. We haven’t yet been indulged by common luxuries. We live simply, and we live happily. The same premise applies here. If you have an overwhelming sense of adventure, there’s nothing that will appease it more than a safari trip. Encountering a pride of lions in the middle of a hunt, or marveling at the sheer size of an African elephant just feet away from you. There is plenty to see and do, and you’ll never find yourself short of ideas. You won’t want to spend your vacation lying idly on the beach when there’s so much to explore. And that level of excitement is priceless.

Hopefully, you’re now convinced that a safari could be one of the most rewarding experiences of your lifetime. Feel free to share your own safari experiences below.
