Italy is surrounded by the warm Mediterranean sea and a unique and varied coastline, making it the ideal location for a seaside holiday.

While most of Italy’s coastline is beautiful and natural, certain parts have been turned into marine reserves and tourist destinations. Rimmi beach is one of Italy’s most developed coastal resorts while Portofino and Positano are undisrupted by the tracks of the masses.

If you want a quiet holiday and want to avoid the beach crowds, avoid the end of July, all of August and the weekends. Italians don’t tend to go to the beach out of the summer season, so during May and early June the beaches are always a lot calmer and less packed.

When choosing a destination for your holiday, there are some important things to think about. Do you want to visit a destination with beautiful scenery? Do you want to head off to an island? Do you want to visit a seaside resort location, like Rimmi? Or, do you fancy visiting a coastal port or town?  Where you will go will depend on the type of holiday you want.

With so many different cities to choose from, travelers visiting Italy have a lot to choose from!  For fashion, visit Milan. For food, visit Naples. For beauty, visit Venice. For ancient ruins, visit Rome.

While city breaks are an excellent way to see Italy, avoid visiting during peak season, as the mixture of the heat and crowds can get too much. Instead plan a visit for sometime between March and May.
