Carnitas, camerones, and chili verde, oh my!

While you love grabbing a burrito every now and then from Taco Bell, your mother always told you to never mix lard with your tequila. Thank goodness Tortillia Republic’s owner John Halter listened to his mother. Food lovers on Robertson Blvd. in WeHo can now enjoy modern Mexican fare free of lard and processed additives, with creatively infused cocktails to pair. Halter even used some of his mother’s recipes.

We’re talking Hibiscus Flower Enchiladas – hibiscus flower, roasted tomato chipotle sauce, jicama, carrots and onion, which you can pair with a cocktail of your choice. We recommend the “Perfect,” made with Herradura resposado, Cointreau, agave, lime sweet and a Grand Marnier float, what could be more perfect than that?

You can also try some small plates like the Duck Confit Tacos – sour cherry salsita, shaved radish and cilantro crema. How else can we explain it? – YUM!

In true LA style, there’s even a vegan menu.

Maybe you should bring your mom here for Mother’s day to thank her for all that she taught you.

Tortillia Republic, open now!
